the project stems from an idea of hypnotism and low frequencies which are an integral part of the musical premise. in an ever-changing field of music, blow creates a fusion between the genders in a spiritual perspective becoming part of the contemporary underground movement. both tracks are live interactions and excerpts from archival material of the opera mutica. the acoustic elements that characterize the artists sound are flutes, drums, percussion, guitars and ambient sound environments. between the surreal sounds he is able to initiate a search within ethic harmony. through musical research the project evokes a certain significance, enough to take on a certain character which makes space for more conventional acoustic elements.

graze is the synthetic porous ultralight material derived from low-mid frequencies, in which the liquid component of the melody has been replaced with curvaceous tones. the result are tracks with extremely low density and high thermal conductivity.

known for his past releases on nation, l.i.e.s, and cititrax, chicagos beau wanzer delivers a 12 track lp of archival material culled from tapes stored away from years past, the tracks in question being plucked between 2002-2008. wanzer has stuck to his grotesque guns over the years, keeping his music personal, grating, and down right bizarre. each track takes a narrative of its own, from the languidly vocaled, yet uncannily catchy *mob boss* to the possessed murmurs of *love tone*, wanzer has created a completely unique collection of music which engages the listener all the way through.

ptakis tunes soar wide-winged like their translation (bird) infers. with a breakout single under their belts on the very polish cut-outs krystina and a swirling vapour of mystique surrounding them, the duo present their first full 12 inch of original material which is both contemplative and transfixing. the kalina ep on young adults recordings clocks in around 25 minutes, but the ground it covers cannot be clearly conveyed through conventional cartography - a birdseye view of jagged cliffs, coastal haze, rolling bagpipe hillsides, and smoke signals.

welcome aboard transatlantyk! get to know a new label from a man who brought polish music back to the international spotlight. transatlantyk is a new project from zambon, the boss of the famous the very polish cut-outs, the home of diverse edits of forgotten and obscure tracks from poland’s past. this new undertaking is devoted to releasing original material from new, exciting producers from all over world. the first offering in the series showcases a young, promising polish producer naphta.

techno was always meant to invoke images of the future. whether dystopian or utopic, you want your music to inspire otherworldly images and ideas. enter american producer allen as the newest addition to the m_rec ltd roster…his 4-tracks ep embraces the set of values and intentions that were dear to the pioneers of the genre, while still delivering some incredibly exciting dance floor oriented material.

the seventh modal analysis release comes from athenian producer and dj, anfs. following his remix for kondaktors signal 1, anfs returns to the label with his debut release, ground, a four track ep which consists of original material. borrowing sounds from early twentieth century folk greek culture, the ep is dominated by a rhythmic canibalistic spirit and a noisy distorted cue. ground 1 functions as an introduction, or rather ones initiation to the mystic rituals that prevail. the artist uses drones and distorted textures which increase in ground 2 and are backed up by drums that beat in a hard-and-slow ethnic tonality. ground 3 reveals a paroxysm of emotions which comes as a result from the combination of basslines and vocals that create a complex and twisted vortex. the trip ends with ground 4, a more stripped down monotonic ensemble that serves as an epilogue and a catharsis.

make no mistake, for vault series 15 the doors have been flung open to welcome a new act to the fold. theres very little known about mistake made. no records or releases exist to date, but they have impressed vault chief subjected enough to have them join the sequestered berlin-based crew. and in sublime compliance with the vault series creed, this debut effort from the shadowy outfit presents yet another set of functioning and frill-free dancefloor material, complete with a rusted-through hue of its own. on the a-side >wrist< jumps straight in with marching intent, complete with fidgety hat work thats both anxious and infectious. then on the flip, >ricochet< opens with field recordings tossed into a stormy concoction of ticks, hats and fuzzy atmospherics, teamed up here with one of those basslines that will keep you glued to the floor. >indec< then concludes in signature vault series style an ominous, growling number rattled with alarm bells and screeching, clangorous detail. its one of those monstrous slow-burners that leaves you wounded yet longing for more. all in all, a rounded first release from a new techno tour de force. this isnt the last we will be hearing from mistake made.

a kaleidoscope of rainbow textures and rhythms disperse into the exotic soundscape of *tropical*. electronics, real folk instruments and noise-making objects feature here generously on this six-track concept album, blending together a sonic palette influenced by a rich variety of music, people and places. the material was initially written over the course of a few months during what seneviratne called *a beautiful burst of inspiration*. working with veteran producer asier leatxe ibanez d opakoa (electric lady studios, nyc), seneviratne then set about disassembling all the songs and re-working them meticulously, enriching the sounds by adding a huge range of live instrumentation, before processing the audio through vintage analogue studio gear. the vinyl lp comes with download code.

venezuelan wonder producers fur coat step up for a triumphant return to their spiritual home of crosstown rebels armed with a solid stack of weapons to vamp up the dancefloor. showcasing the duos most thoughtful and restrained material to date, the u turn ep is a deep and moody tour de force, technically on point and awash with hypnotic bleeps, dramatic tension and shards of vintage techno.

though the iconic imagery of disco feels distinctly tied to the united states, the style had a wide-reaching influence that made it’s way to africa. while africa was already no stranger to the pulsing rhythms of funk, afro-beat, and highlife, the rise of disco added a slick sheen to the music, with musicians from all over the continent incorporating elements of the genre into their sounds. would there ever have been a studio 54 in ghana in late 70s, these would have been the recordings that would have packed the dance floor with their deep root in disco, soul & funk! an album recorded in the late 70s packed full of legendary musicians such as harry mosco and many more… to be re-discovered 35 years after it’s initial vinyl release as a private press. a “disco documentary full of funk” proves that it stands the test of time by sounding as fresh and original as any other sought-after disco / soul funk lp from the west coast of africa in the late 70s. bbe went on another crate-digging journey and found the original producer reindorf nana oppong and the original master tapes were dusted off, transferred to digital. in the process of this, even un-released material was discovered on the tapes, which makes this a rather special package. “nana love - disco documentary full of funk” is one special journey through afro disco & boogie in the late 70s, and we at bbe can guarantee that you won’t be disappointed!!!

harry agius has been making waves as midland since 2010, releasing a series of increasingly impressive 12”s as a solo artist but also collaborating with the likes of ramadanman (pearson sound), breach and pariah on labels such as aus music, naked naked, works the long nights and his own graded imprint. he is also a prolific remixer who has lent his talents to artists such as lone, guy gerber, julio bashmore, dusky and more. we can proudly say he came to many people’s attention via his first phonica 12” ‘play the game’ back in 2010 and he has remained a friend and regular at the shop ever since. midland’s well deserved rise has been a delight to watch from the sidelines and we’re glad to welcome harry back to phonica with the fantastic ‘before we leave’. it starts slowly but surely as reverb soaked percussion comes to the fore, cushioned by the truly beautiful string melody, which we’re sure will be stuck in many a head this year! this could well be midland’s most deftly handled arrangement yet. running back’s gerd janson wisely decides to stick to the original track’s feel, letting the strings weave their magic, yet also brings the bassline and drums to the forefront. delicately but expertly done. midland rounds out the 12” with his barebones drums and percussion-only ‘bonus beats’ version, perfect dj tool material. we wish more records had these!

southern california producer jeffrey brodskys *i ll be strong* is the latest ep to appear on san francisco based label public release. its comprised of four tracks, with brodskys original joined by three wide ranging remixes, which complement its energetic feeling with deeper material aimed at late nights and early mornings.

mystical and proper techno! -marbacka- is a song originally written and composed by marbacka for one of their side projects, -the marbacka side project-. it was later made famous by another recording artist, who covered the song and released it as the second single from hen second studio album. however, not until this artist recorded and produced the version along with $ it become a worldwide hit. a music video, which has been described as iconic, was shot and received heavy rotation. its feelings explore an abandoned lover s point of view. on this special edition -marbacka- is surrounded by previously unreleased material and reworks.

alex smoke returns to r&s with the follow up to his transfixing debut *dust*. he has delivered a full eps worth of mesmeric music, which is quite possibly the most dancefloor material he has released in some time.

franz meersdonk und günther willers aka rdf are back on the road. the speedometer obviously tweaked, turned up and back on track. on the way tramper simon sunset got on board, et voila: made himself comfortable in the back cabin. left a bunch of wood back there. they drove the semi right into the sawmill and took care of the rough pre-cut themselves. cutter lowtec supported the two street heroes with all he’s got, or rather, he actually applied his own cutting-machine-operation. simon sunset’s wood cuttings were molded by a bunch of saws, slicers, and files. and for a final fine-tuning herb lf came running out of the canteen. and lo and behold, the machines spit out three beautifully stable pieces of wood with the finest texture- pattern captured in a stable frame of bark. so good was the material to begin with that nothing was left over for old, stinky bark mulch

glasgow based mermaids have been quietly making waves since 2011 with an infectious blend of choppy edit-style punchers and slow morphing body music. the duo have already had releases on their own eponymous imprint as well as nonlocal out of canada, but made their biggest splash on ali oofts recent foto recordings sampler ep fours a crowd. their contribution >run with the night< easily stole the show on the release and made its way into many well respected record bags including roberto rodriguez, ben la desh, andy ash, martin hayes of rose records and the always on point sleazy beats gents. the tides are steadily turning in their favour and have carried them to young adults for their finest material yet.
